Agency Worker Regulations

What are the AWR's?

The Agency Workers Regulations come into force in October 2011 and give agency workers the same entitlement to the basic employment and working conditions as if you are a permanent employee.

 

The new rules mean that from day one of an assignment you'll be entitled to use your workplace's facilities, and get information on job vacancies. After 12 weeks in the same job you will be entitled to equal treatment in pay, holidays, night work, rest period and breaks, and duration of working time. The new rules do not however mean that you become a permanent employee after 12 weeks.

Do the regulations apply to me?

The regulations that were brought in are not retrospective and are not applicable to individuals who contract through a limited company.
